Chart Your Holokai

Coming to and studying at BYU–Hawaii is a voyage, or holokai, as students progress in knowledge and understanding. Students at BYU–Hawaii chart their own academic voyages and plan out individual paths to graduation and future destinations by combining a major with two minors or certificates.

Study With Faith

As developing disciples of Christ, students at BYU–Hawaii devote a portion of their study to the doctrine and history of Jesus Christ and His Church. This religious education strengthens their spiritual foundation, aligning with the university's mission to prepare graduates who are committed to Christlike leadership and service in their families, communities, and throughout the world.

New Faculty Highlight: Karamea Wright

Brigham Young University–Hawaii is pleased to welcome Karamea Wright as a new assistant professor in the Faculty of Religious Education beginning in the Winter 2025 Semester. Wright will teach religion classes starting with Religion 225 (The Foundations of the Restoration) and Religion 275 (Teachings and Doctrines of the Book of Mormon) and bring her unique experience and cultural perspective about the gospel of Jesus Christ to the university community.

BYU–Hawaii HTM Students Embark on Immersive Study Tour to Japan

Nine hospitality and tourism management (HTM) students and two faculty from BYU–Hawaii completed an unforgettable 10-day experiential learning trip to Japan last month. The immersive study, led by Professor Jeff Christensen, aligned with the U.S. and Japanese governments’ 2024 declaration as the “US-Japan Tourism Year,” a joint initiative aimed at restoring tourism exchanges between the two countries to pre-COVID levels. The trip gave students a unique opportunity to explore one of the world’s most dynamic tourism markets.

Academic Calendar

BYU–Hawaii's academic year is broken up into three semesters: fall, winter, and spring. The fall and winter semesters are 15 weeks long while the spring semester is nine weeks long. Summer break is seven weeks long and allows students to take a break from studying or increase work their hours. Students should stay up to date with important dates and deadlines for registering, adding, and dropping classes.
